Very informative, good job restoring one of the classice. You could also simply create a funnel with plastic and tape onto the end of cable's outer sheath. Elevate the one end and fill with machine oil, switch on the gravitational device. Leave overnight. Done. I would advise removing the tank before removing the triple clamps or swinging spanners.
Rusted and bearings with pitting is a direct danger – here in Denmark, the MOT will send U home for that. Pitting can suddenly give U something feeling like steering lock: one (or more) ball(s) locks up in a pitting hole – and locks Ur steering in a random direction !! Very unpleasant – and dangerous….ask me how I know :o/
In my wild youth I flatted with a CB350 owner, and admired it . I rode a MAC (350) Velocette. This was the era of the Mods vs Rockers, the ' killer' 750 triple Kawasaki and the Norton Commando, and the denigration of 'Absinthe makes the fart go Honda." City traffic cops rode 380 triple Suzukis, and I ftted them with (PYE) mobile radio-telephones. I really enjoyed the smooth power. Glory days!
Alternatively you can fashion a cup out of plasticine or clay around the cable end, fill that with WD40 or whatever, and gravity will take it on down. Or buy a new cable, cheapskate… Brakes are kinda important…
The front brakes on these are really decent slammer stoppers if you take time to set them up right. The 250 had a steering damper, not sure why the 350 didn't have one.

Great job..nice microbus..
When I was 18 I had that same exact bike same color I rode the wheels off that thing brings back great memories
Phil Wood Marine Greese? I use that for my bikes bottom crank ball bearings. Works great for water repellent
When I buy something to sell I charge the item like a customer. That way I know what I got in it. I will then know where to start on a sell price.

That was an awesome way to service the front end of a bike without completely disassembling!

My old 350 Honda was one of the best bikes for the money back in the day, very dependable!
