I have been looking for a vintage yamaha enduro for a long time, and now I have this. its a low miles mostly stock bike that got put away after getting flipped 40+ years ago. lets see what it will take to bring it back to its former glory.

wish i could find one
I so wanted one when I was a kid.
Mustie – you must get some grease on that front wheel lift clamp. It just sounds so horribly 'dry' !!!
Are the clutch springs interchangeable from 73 to80
nice bike had one of those as my first bike way rougher then that was in trade school …. got stollen last thing me and my grandpa worked on together 🙁
Ditch the oil pump and use premix. That pump quits while you're ridding and the top end is wasted. This happened to a friend of mine way back when. Ported cylinder with an expansion chamber and you got something.
I had a 77 Yamaha DT 100 , this 175 sounds exactly like my DT 100 wow the memories.
I had one exactly like that and I loved it a lot very reliable fit inside my van. I can't remember selling it but I must have. If I could find one reasonable enough I'd buy another
Like being 16 again……..
As soon as you started it the memories came flooding back. My father had the same bike new in 73 when I was born. Great little motorcycle he gave it to me in pieces when the clutch looked like that one. I was 9 years old so the first bike i ever rebuilt. Here in New Zealand they were known as the DT175. The same as in Japan. Old man couldn't be bothered to fix the clutch just bought a new bike.
Great find, and a well constructed video. Such a shame about the tank eh?😢
Mustie i know it is Live Free or Die in NH, but let's be just slightly smarter and put a brain bucket on when off roading at least. One bad patch of sand on a turn or a tree in the woods and it could be BAD.
I had one also, but got stolen .
Had a buddy that bought one identical to this bike in 73. It was a fun bike, it loved to wheelie.
It’s amazing how you could find one nearly intact. My dad bought me one just like this in 1985 when I was 15. Honestly I hated it all my friends had YZ and RM 125’s. Maybe I should’ve given it more of a chance. My last dirt bike until about 5 years ago. Only street motos.
Good luck, and great video.
Love that design era of the Yamahas.
Wow that brings back memories. I had a 1972 when i was 15-16 years old. When you cranked it up it was just like yesterday!
That one you have is in good shape!
Anybody else notice the old fuel filter installed backwards
