Thank you, I was able to fix my ice maker that’s been broke for 6 months. Happened to be the same model and same issue.

Great video!! Just bought a used ice maker and tray wasn't working because the same exact thing had happened to the motor in it 🤯 they really do need to fix these up some so they are more waterproof. Thank you so much for taking the time to figure it out!!

I repaired microwave ovens for many years and I replaced dozens of these motors over that time. Almost every oven uses them to spin the turntable and the shafts often seize up on the bushing as this one did. All it takes is a bit of water to get in there and eventually they rust. As far as I know there are no stainless steel ones available. The manufacturers just expect you to replace them when they fail. They're only a few dollars online.
It is amazing that when the shaft does rust onto the bushing that the motor is able to turn the whole lot. You'd think the plastic gears would strip out first.
Just shows how strong these little beasts are.

Was that a 120V motor marked CW/CCW and an RPM range? It looks suspiciously like a cheap microwave oven turntable motor. If it is then they are commonly available. The synchronous motors have no fixed direction and just slam into reverse themselves if stalled.

Good stuff to know, we bought one nearly identical to that one for our RV. I had to chuckle when you used the wire wheel and said "Watch your eyes", as I instinctively moved to be out of the way 😀

Use distilled water 💦 because it has no grit, no calcium, no solids, no residue, what’s good for the machine, is good for human body also, you don’t want residue from water, your kidneys will thank you for choosing distilled water 💦

I happen to have a near identical little motor sitting on my headboard that i pulled out of a microwave back… probably 20-23 years ago now. i was like, 12 at the time, and it's just a really slow rotating motor. 2.5/3rpm to be specific for the one i have. it even has the slightly off-center two hole tabs on each side. the only difference is instead of the white 'cap' with two wires coming out of it, mine has a gray 'cap' with two male spade connectors. It's amazing how some things don't need to change, despite the advances in technology.
