in this episode we weld up the rotted exhaust, fix the flywheel, replace the points, adjust the valves, repair the camshaft, adjust the timing chain, then take a sledge hammer to the frame and see how she runs.

Great series of videos. I have the same trail 70 and trying to do do some repairs and your videos are really helping. My I ask were you ordered your replacement parts from?
We has four of them
That cam gear look like it was all worn out….. And you got plenty of time you could take that side cover off and inspect to put it back in no time at all……. And on that crank on the magneto side you could have used a thread file using that die very dangerous got to be very careful…..
mine had the exact same thing happen to the exhaust. Mine also caught on fire from riding without an exhaust lol. flames burnt a hole through the gas line, and pooof. Riding through the field as a fireball.
The noise if coming from the head of the broken bolt from the cam, which is being slapped around in the crank case. :::::)
Your not afraid to try anything, good on you, Only wish I had your Confidence…. Pls. Keep them Coming…..
If you put a flange on both the tailpipe and exhaust, you could mate them to the insert.
pretty sure excessive amount of starting footage is related to the goldfish sound
I keep waiting for you to notice the missing bolt between the cylinder and the case on the points side. Enjoying the series.
It looks like its missing a jug bolt..
