this tool that i just found out about is called a shake and break. it is an attachment that goes on the end of a pneumatic air hammer. I found it to work great and wanted to share it with you, so lets see how it does in this demonstration.

We use them in our rivet guns in Aviation. We call them screw knockers.
Mustie should have way more subscribers. Amount of knowledge ive got from his channel. You should have a subscriber restoration channel, where we can show our progression from the help of your videos. Mine would be lawn mowers and basically all 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines. Big thanks from uk.
Great tool! I also had been using the hammer impact driver and it works too but, not nearly as well as this great gadget! I had to get the gun too but that worked out well because that took me to finger descaler. This tool is definitely a game changer!
They got something sort of for bleeder screws too
Dear god Mustie thank you for mentioning this tool.
I bought one of these shortly after this video was posted, and it paid for itself in fifteen damn minutes.
I use it all the freaking time now in restoring old tools. This thing has saved and allowed me to re-use so many vintage screws that were rusted in place. And on my rusty old land rover.
And my MINI.
Since all the regular tools have gone electric (impact drivers, ratchets, etc.) I'd wager that this thing with a cheap air chisel may be the most useful tool that exists for a shop air compressor.
Made my own with 2 3\8 extensions and welder
For the price these sell at, surely it's more economical to make one yourself? Think I might give that a try once I get an air chisel, and a welder…
I recently found your channel and all of your videos are extremely well done. Hats off! In regard to your “tools” videos….this is the perfect time of the year to showcase some of the cool and useful tools you use, from simple to complex. My wife always asks what I want for Christmas and I’ve added a few of the tools you use to that list! I have a feeling Santa is going to be putting the tool showcased in this video under the tree this year!
Kind of counterproductive, hammering in and twisting when it needs to come out…but the old one works well….most of the Time! THAT'S INCREDIBLE!!
Eastwood has a version for $19.95 plus shipping if the $50 on Amazon is a bit too much or you don't have access to a welding machine to make one.
Would be nice to have something like this for stuck bolts.
I LOVE my Shake N Break!
I always swore by if it was nuts or bolt heads, a set of King Dick "sluggers" which was a ring on one end and the other a part you hit with an up and over swing of a sledgehammer, used them on fixing old steam engines and because of the way it was forged, it transmitted the power to the twist but not shear the fastener and one good whap knocked it loose usually 🙂
Cool exposition.
As a youngster in South Africa all those years ago (1970s), almost every school boy had that exact Vessel impact driver… all the better to stuff up your 50cc bike by not knowing what you are doing when stripping it for no reason! I lent mine to my late Dad many years ago, and never asked for it back.
We have never seen you use it since…
thanks, I never knew this existed. That thing works great. I to used the impact device for years.
