I wish you went down to Police HQ in this exact condition , put a real metermaid there "in jail" and drove around . Just 4 shits&giggles. With some footage…
Hey Mustie, just a thought if you do something like this again. To bend the sheet metal that closed the gap between the back and cab, you might have found it easier to make a bending form out of wood cut to the same or just a slightly smaller diameter than the corner of the radius of the original cover (back) and then made a notch or flat in that. Line the flat directly opposite of the sheet metal and then clamp that. You could either do it cold with a mallet, or heated it up to bend it. I would have made that crease on the opposite side only about 1" long. It would have made the transition between the curve and 90 degree bend a little smoother. Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing what you did. Just a suggestion that might have made doing the radius a lot easier.
One question, why did you change from the 1×1 for the verticals to re-bar?
I was trying 2 hold out on making a comment & I don't know if u have gotten this comment yet, after all I'm watching this 2 years after the the making of this video. But I noticed that u wanted 2 put a bike in it. After u framed out the door a thought hit me. U should have put a tube & bar hinge similar 2 jeep door, so that u could fold the door down and then when u fully open the tailgate the door becomes a ramp. And the the tailgate could stay open but the door partially shuts and chains up 2 become a tailgate of it's own. Gud luck and luv watching because u find the best stuff.
Now that I see it before you create the rear door a hatch would have been much better just like every other SUV on the planet that type of thing hatch that swings up you could have put the pressurize rods from the auto parts store to hold it up and all that happy bull shit

Off by 3\4 of an inch? No problem. Well within the Yugo Tolerance Scale 😆
