Man why didn't I watch this video sooner,I had a push mower that was doing the exact same thing,i tried the usual stuff and exact same thing would happen,I finally gave up,when I should have checked the fly wheel, dang it lol oh well now I know, thanks man
I have this very Toro Mower I bought for $50 used the day we bought our house. It's lasted all this time with many carb cleanings, and blade sharpenings….My simple working class, and resourceful, frugal family upbringing, can't stand to waste stuff! When the blade's good and sharpened, it can cut through foot-high grass with no probs. I'd only replace it with an electric mower (if I found one at a yard sale cheap) 🙂
Pull the pull rope til the tabs come out then spray Wd40 in front and behind the tabs then pull a couple of times while the pull part is off the engine I did on my mower
It's really crazy to think a little 20 cent piece of metal made it basically useless. But with less than ten minutes of learning, and the new 20 cent part, it's fixed.
I would assume under normal conditions the flywheel key lasts basically the life of the mower. But, maybe the blade might have hit something hard like a short tree stump or got a stick big enough through it to cause that? It would also explain the blade not being there at all. I think it likely would have been damaged.
Have not seen you for a year how are you . And wife
