Reminds me about how I used to do this kind of work one day and have to be ready next day to go to work. Back in the day it cost me 50.00 a head for 1600 dp heads. 1985. Nice to have an engine stand too. I hate to say people throw away those bellows thinking "I dont need that" then wonder why it does not run right.
When I watch Mustie operate on an engine, I wonder what he might have accomplished had he decided to to be neurologist and operate on the human brain instead. I would have let him prod inside my head anytime.
Musti the vw and corvair are almost identical. There are excellent instructions on both forums on reconditioning it isn't hard good luck you have an excellent program an exceeding varied.
How complicated it is to take a Volkswagen engine apart, a 60s American car doesn't have that problem, just remove the heads by taking off the intake and exhaust manifolds.
Funny that's what I say to my son ,,it won't hurt to spray those,, little PB blaster LOL
I half dozed off while I was watching the video and when he used the wire brush of the grinder with its loud noise it was a very dramatic wakeup!!!

If I had the heads off, I would change the rings at least and make sure the pistons and cylinders were truly round and honed.
