For the life of me, I'll never understand how someone could let a machine get so tore up. These things aren't cheap brand new. I take care of mine like it's a sports car. I reckon some folks have money and just don't care.

Your a very gifted man, for those of us that have little mechanical knowledge, we truly can benefit from your skills.

You never pull the caps off of the batteries, to see if they have any water in them. Why is that?

I wonder what attracts mice to the area on top of the cylinder head on these engines. Both of these had a nest. I had the same exact type of nest on the Kohler engine on my John Deere , right in the same spot in front of the flywheel on the fins on the cylinder head.

Funny you would say that about the mouse surviving mankind. Scientists say all mammals are a decedent of a mouse/shrew like animal. The circle.

Hi Mustie, how often do you change the fuel filter on these mowers? Lot of people say it should be changed once a year. I have a 3 year old mower and never changed it once.

Can you stuff steel wool in those crevices to keep critters out? I do that on my camper with some success.

You might consider keeping a mason jar around just for when you are checking the fuel in the carburator. Drain some of the fuel in the jar to about a third to 1/2 and then swirl it around so the fuel spins in the jar and then look at the bottom. That is how aircraft fuel is inspected for clarity, water and other contaminants.
