I need help identifying a kit boat we came across when we purchased a couple other boats. I didn't think it was anything, but then I learned about these Chris Craft Kit boats. Do you have any information or could I share photos of this boat with you and get your opinion?
I've never seen a boat like that before, but that Johnson outboard sure brought back memories. When I was a kid in the late 1950's we had one exactly like it- 35 hp in that same red and white color scheme- on our boat. The boat was a 14 ft MFG, which I think may have been one of the earliest fiberglass boats on the market (MFG stood for "Moulded Fiberglass"). My father had previously owned a couple of wooden boats and hated all the maintenance they required, so was much happier with fiberglass, which required very little.
Oh man how that sucks to get the coughing and can't stop. That's where an orange crush would have done you a whole lot of good. I think you know that.. I love the boat man… That is just beautiful. Wow I've always loved those ever since that movie On Golden Pond. I don't think it's the same kind of boat but it had that same kind of style to it.
Okay mustie1, now we know why your back screwed up. You're as bad as I am man. This is me. Oh man it'll take 15-20 minutes to put that engine puller together I can pick that block up and move it across the garage it ain't no big deal…. Made that decision too many times. God help us both.
What a Nice Boat, but I see why you had to weld the lower unit. When you off load the boat and upload the boat you should tilt the motor up. Appears why you had to weld the lower unit. Some one hand off loaded it with the motor down and it hit the lower end of the motor in the ground and damaged it, what a shame.
