Bronze? Aluminum…for gawd sake can’t someone cut some steel on an old lathe? CAn it be done or no? Seriously . I’d love to buy one but Not to cut soft stuff with it
On such a short piece you shouldn't use live center. That is a nice lathe I had one like it only mine was about 6 feet long I made my belt out of an old leather belt and stitched it together with wire.
Dear Mustie1.
Don't know why, but I definitely missed this video until now.
Best regards, luck and health.
Never would have thunk on the brake jig.

That is a cool old lathe.
Get a copy of the book "How to run a lathe" by South Bend Lathe Co – should be online – good information to know
Never seen one of those brake shoe clamps. Wish I had, with the number of relines I did as an apprentice!
Cool lathe, do you know the spindle size and thread pitch on the chuck, I see you have adaptor plate on the back of it…Thanks….Ed
If you run the tip just slightly low ( or give the tool more rake ) you wouldn't sequel and rub as much.
Looks like it works well. Seems to be running very true. Great idea to make it portable.
