WWII Link trainer, manufactured by the Link Piano & Organ Co., of Binghamton, NY. Many of the components… valves, bellows, pneumatics, etc. were the same parts that went into building their organs, automatic orchestrions and player pianos which had mostly gone out of style by then.

If you're looking at airplanes start small. A friend of mines father built an airplane with a VW engine. It worked great except the carburetor needed a heater. The other was steep climbs, barrel rolls or steep landings. Gravity feed fuel system., fuel injection solved that. With your ability building one would be easy. An ultra light would be easy, fun and requires less licensing. Maybe not tell Mama.
