Thanks to theses videos I replaced the pump, tensioner pulley, idler pulley belt and hoses. I did have issue with the top thermostat housing bolt. Put it through the housing before putting it in place.Using a 1/4" ratchet and extension also helped . Used anti-seize on all bolts. The Haynes manual came through with torque specs and some pictures that were helpful for reassembly. Also thanks for the tip regarding tracing the pump on the box to place the bolts for identification. Thanks again.
The box template idea was marvelous! I decided to put all the bolts (from the entire process) in this box while I worked to get to the pump too and kept each part sectioned off (just drew a circle around those bolts and labeled it). I didn't do a template for each, but it was just handy for keeping all of them organized, as there are many similar sized bolts in this process. Thank you for sharing! Oh, and good luck getting to that bolt behind the 3" hose! The hose is too short to remove easily and you can't get the bolt out so you can remove the hose. It took some finagling, but I'm sure there is a better way.
Your tensioner is trash its a dealer only Item or get it on Rock auto there is a push button retainer that holds it togerther that fails and allows it to come loose like that it will sit crooked and your belt will work off and shred on the other groove pulley next to it Been there done that
I almost never refer to the good old days but changing the water pump on a '72 Ford 302 or Chevy 350 wass so much easier than this. All the stuff crammed under the hood of a modern vehicle makes repairs so difficult.
Aren't you supposed to "right tighty" the tensioner pulley and that actually is supposed to move it, essentially loosen up the tension so that the serpentine belt can be removed?
If the tensioner bolt is backing out, because it's reverse threads! While in there I would replace the idler and tensioner!
Great vid so if it's the 5.7 the timing belt don't have to come off?
O my gog!!!!!! Your video mad me sick. I don't learn nothing from your video.
Very good video, lots of help
