of course it depends on the type of head gasket leak. between the water jacket & oil wells won't show up on a chemical test like this.

Just wanted to say, I can't get enough of your YouTube channel….I'm not a mechanic, by far, but I like to try to repair things for myself. I get so many great tips from you, I would like to thank you for your videos…there isn't one that was boring, or that I haven't learned from…..Keep on keeping on….I'll be watching….

That's awesome tool. Whole lot cheaper than taking the head off anyway.

I have just discovered your channel and have been binge viewing. Love your projects and chat. I know I am late to this project but I am interested in why you think the leak tester didn’t work for you. Seems like a useful diagnostic tool if it works. Cheers, John in Australia

You can take a compression tester and put air from a compressor into the cylinder and listen and watch to see or hear where the air is coming out

First & foremost, Jim-Bob, VW waterboxers don't have "head gaskets" in the traditional sense. It's basically an air cooled beetle engine with coolant surrounding the cylinders and rubber gaskets replacing the beetle's shrouds. The rubber gaskets cause an external coolant leak NOT an internal one. Oil is in no way involved. This engines worst enemy is the wrong coolant as in STD American green. G05 is a must as in VW or BMW blue.

you would get oil in the rad tank it would go white on the cap bottom
