Can you copper plate the rims with just regular copper plating? I figure that way you can fill the larger pits with solder before you paint them. Root Kill makes great copper plating solution when mixed with water, though I have never tried to plate steel directly.
@wildeyednorthernboy I go over from time to time and drain it but alot when working with the paints, thanks for the tips, I am new to this part of the trade so all is welcome, need ta crawl before ya can walk,
@wildeyednorthernboy thanks for responding Tommy, I ended up pressing in glazing putty into all of those then wet sanded back over with 320, and reprimed, I will go out and get some 500 and hit the whole thing with it, I worked on the dents too, it was hard raining here for 30 hours with 100% humidity so I did not want to add that into my intake, there is 2 air dryers on the compressor but need to be moved down stream more where the air is cooled, had pizza last night cuz yours made me hungry,,,
ok ,u asked ,i'll tell…those r bigger than pin hole,u need 2 egg shape the holes out or there will b air trapped in the holes.your compresser?water does not come from out side then go into your compresser tank ,the water comes from hot air made from the compresser pushed in to your air holding tank.do u know how 2 backmask 2 stop the over spray? u do have 2 dents by your back pass taillight.the mar-hy primer u r using is a good primer. if u what this van 2 b smooth wet sand with 500 grit
looking good,u sure get some good deals on that sandpaper, even if it isnt top quality u will get your moneys worth, good run of vids on the vw,thankx for sharing
Sounds like you have the process down pretty good. Can't wait to see the finished product. Just remember that with paint, like anything else worth doing well,
"Haste makes waste". Taking your time on each step will bring you much better and very satisfying results. You are smarter than the bus and the paint, so I know that you will do a great job!

I see you have a can of PPG Delstar topcoat. Is that what your going to use on this?
You're right don't rush the job. From experience you will be sorry if you do. It is looking good and I am enjoyed the resto.
