Good video, but for others watching, there are 3 parts that can cause this issue. The shaft you point out, the gear slide/selector, and the engagement gear getting hung on its splined shaft. I've done two of these, and both had the same symptoms, but different failures causing the issue.

wish i would have seen this video before i disassembled the whole transmission. i found this video try to find a video to find out how to reassemble my transmission.
Thanks for sharing this video. I am about to take apart a 6hp mtd rear tine tiller looks very similar. The tiller isn't going into forward or reverse I wonder if this shift issue could be similar to the one in the video.

Great video! I have a craftsman model 130202 with a 5hp B&S engine that looks really similar to your unit, do the gear boxes simply use grease? I just picked up this unit today and it makes some noise and I can't find a fill hole except for the engine, watching the video I think it uses grease instead of liquid lube like gearbox oil, again thanks and keep the videos coming!
