a subscriber sent me a link to an auction that had a vw beetle police car up for sale, $1250 later l own it, lets go pick it up and see what we got.

Hey guys and how's it going well, i purchased a my first auction vehicle sight unseen and it's probably the most ridiculous vehicle. I've picked up also so i'm about 100 miles from home and i think about two miles from my destination and picking it up. So we're gon na go load it up. I have not seen the vehicle other than a couple of pictures, so i either bought a total toilet.

I bought something really cool or someplace in between we're gon na go find out. Let's go see arriving at destination on left. Hmm, you can get the right place, yeah first impressions. Look.

We believe it would be stuffed in a corner somewhere. Ah there it is this. Let's go see what i bought. That is ridiculous.

Oh, it's silly one of as rusty as i expected it's real common that they rushed out great in this area. I don't see anything could be all mud too. The decals are awesome. Shall we oh she's got some critters living in her looks pretty bone stock, though the original color was a blue or green.

Be green, see some red under there too. I think it's open. Oh, i take back my opinion about rust. Oh well check out the radio setup in it doesn't smell terribly terrible.

That is definitely different. All right, let me go uh contact the uh. My contact and uh get my paperwork going and see. If we can get some air and get her up on the trailer chances are they're gon na air up and not too good.

You think the chances are they're gon na roll. This is the next part. Let's go see so you can grab a valve stem, let her pump a little bit if you get one or two of them up. It'll help greatly, but it's definitely been sitting.

Is there even an inspection sticker on it? I do not see one the face stuff face is hilarious yeah. I don't think that one's gon na take here not quite sure why, but i don't think that one's gon na happen. I won't push my luck, but we'll call that one out of four so far. This one's a little buried so from what i understand is this was donated by sergeant longi to the police department, and he used this as in his role as the safety officer.

The safety officer is responsible for traffic school safety and he would actually get in this when it wasn't raining or snowing, and this was his company vehicle. Besides his daily use, it made it into uh. It's now. Uh six flags now used to be riverside.

They used to have um a dirt. I don't know what kind of track some sort of racetrack in there and it was actually a pace. Car no kidding. Oh, that is cool uh.

He was in all the parades and uh anything that had to do with children. It'd show up there and it would uh be the spokesman. I believe they had it wired up somehow. So the hood would move, oh no kidding and some sort of microphone, so they could uh act as if they could awesome.

That's awesome, nah, some sort of uh. Why was he taken out of commission got an accident or something at that point? You think or i haven't the slightest idea. Okay, i know it's hit on this side and you know maybe just old age got to it and it sure has been so. I don't know how it ended up being parked, but i know it's been moved back and forth a little bit, so it was over here at one point in time and moved it, so the dpw could come in through plow and do their stuff.
So i've got to assume if this, if this isn't the reason why it was parked, then this is what happened when it's been moved around gotcha awesome, cool cool that it has a history of uh. I like the fact that i was used as a pace. Car too that's hilarious, yes, yeah all over town, so whatever function we had it was there uh parades, six flags pace car. Well, i make no promises all depends on how bad it is underneath whether it gets put back together to the point where it's on the road again but it'd be cool to bring it back for uh another parade or something when everything's go back in into uh Normal normalcy, we should say, and that stuff is around again it'd - be cool to bring it back for a last yahoo for the area yeah that would so when we threw it up on govdeals.com the site that the town uses to sell their equipment.

I put it up on facebook also and there's a lot of residents saying: oh, it's too bad it's going, there's we don't have any way of restoring and the cost. What took me is all the logos and - and you know what's been done to it and you know very um uh, i want to say clown car but very uh uh. Well, maybe i could say that uh shriners uh look to it and definitely an expensive adventure for a town to just yeah. Have it just to say you have it it's just not feasible for us, unfortunately, cool.

I can see how many more tires take care. I got one out of two so far and uh. Whatever else is going to happen, it's going to get dragged up on that trail or another awesome. Thank you.

I appreciate it well, i really like to pull it back far enough, where i can get it onto the front of the trailer, so i got a chain hooked up to the one of the axle tubes. Let's give her a tug see what rolls what doesn't roll so so so done. We will be serving several up in it. Several eviction notices will be served today.

Let's go plug her in see we get here. We just need that terminal battery see any sparks. Oh something's, going in the front was it talking just give her a little turn. I think that might be upside down there.

We go the lights. All right, you can set the camera up in the back. Let's go spinner over.

Paid $75 for my first used beetle back in the day and it broke down on the way home. Fixed it and drove it for several more years. Gotta love 'em!

Interesting piece of history. In the mid 60’s, the Scotsboro, Alabama police department actually had a VW Beetle in their fleet of patrol cars. It was mainly used for checking parking meters. It was, however involved in a “high speed chase”. The officer actually caught the speeder. One of those years they got 12” of snow and the Beetle was the only car that could get around. The story made for a great VW ad at the time.

Mustie be like that guy on VinWiki that bought a marked sheriffs car legally and drove the state attorney general up the wall because he was getting all the perks of being a sheriff without actually being one………..he ended up with a special letter in his glove box so the state cops couldnt arrest him for impersonating an officer.

Is this police car from Haiti or from Puerto Rico or or from another island because that's where they used to use these Volkswagen police cars

I love your episodes I noticed “Rusty” is back in the workshop
I have also noticed since moving in the new workshop all your unfinished projects everywhere
I hope your not becoming like the guy on CT channel who does not complete any projects

Riverside was an asphalt track in the 90s. Figure 8 enduro was my favorite event there. The superman roller coaster sits where the track used to be. The pits were next to the CT. River.
I do not remember the car at the track. Maybe im not old enough. Im 38 years old.

Thats my hometown! Agawam mass. But that car must be before my time. I will ask my mom if she remembers it.
When i was in school the police had a 95/96 thunderbird for the D.A.R.E.

The police department of Zurich, Switzerland still has a 1973 beetle, they bring it out whenever a police officer gets married. Other than this poor specimen theirs is being kept in tip top shape.

Delaware State Police have had several VW Bug cars just like this! If anyone is interested, Google Delaware State Police Trooper Dan. Wonder if any of the old ones are still around?

That is indeed ridiculous. What a great museum piece that will make. Without and the hat and face it would look really cool. But with that stupid stuff it is lunacy, novelty and history
