I liked the video, just wish I could have seen the tear down. Watched the video on the metric trans. Got that one in my van. Never been into the metric or C4. Been into the C6, TH 400 and Mopar 727. Also been into the T 90 3 speed manual trans in a CJ 2A and IH Scout. No, I am not a pro. Enjoyed a lot of shade trees, LOL. This was all 30 to 40 years ago for family, friends and myself. Found ATs much easier than manuals. Glad you dug into it. Two questions for your future reference. Did you replace the pump bearing? That is a must. Second, did you check the pump clearance? You check it with a feeler gauge, just like an oil pump for the engine. Another reason for failure.
Loved the old Chilton manual. In the 4×4 community we say they are good for one thing when you break down. Starting a fire to stay warm.
A monkey could rebuild a c4. Thats why i love them and you can run 10s on a super mild budget c4. Red clutches and kevlar bands with a shift kit. Think im going to go to a 4r70w soon. I drive 70 miles to the track and have 430 gears so OD will be nice. I use a set of 28 inch tall tires when i drive out there to help a bit lol.
hello, congratulations for your video. I have a question, I'm french. there are 2 diferent diameters segment for the oil pump. I want to know ! in what order mount them on the pump? merci for C4 ford 1967
What is the material on the clutches? I found some brown pieces of crap in the filter…I believe it is from an old gasket! A Mechanic told me it was from the clutches!
Felix – there is a DVD on eBay that might help you. It's a US production so probably won't play on my machine here in Australia. Good luck with your rebuild.
@FelixTheHouseFreak the only thing that I came across was a guy tearing one down that was missing a valve body on youtube, other then that I had an old chiltin manual from like the 70s that gave instruction on it, it realy was not too bad, the hardest part was compressing the clutch pack to remove the retaining ring, good luck
Do you know any online material detailing the reconstruction of one of these transmissions? I really want to have a guide when I start on mine soon. Kinda scared…..
On a C4 should the rear output shaft have play in it where it connects to the trans.? Need to know before I put back together. Thanks
c6 you won't look back!
Rebuild mine where you located
