Instead of going off the vertical 4" piece with your hinge, why not attach to the longer tube and have a swing up door?
I reckon you should have fitted the common axis of the hinge pins parallel to the sloping side of the back section.
Its a seagull outboard 2stroke . think they 2\1-2 horses. 50to1
