It's the systems charger output that will tell you what the voltage of the motor is. Most likely it's 36 volts and that's what damaged that lead acid 12 volt battery. The 36 volt battery is a lithium battery. Electric motor bike wheels can fit front or rear.

Turn the battery into the seat wrap it with leather .use spacers so it can breathe

Possibly you could cut the old box in half and use one on each side of the basket,on each side of the bike!!! wrapped in laminated newspapers!!!
