    Hey Mustie
Your comments were very heartfelt when you were addressing your critics, I too had my critics when I worked in industry however I was on a management course one day and came across an interesting and true fact, Its known as the 80 20 rule and it works like this …..out of 100 of your followers 80% will agree with the way you do things and be happy with you, so the 20% left will disagree with your methods, and of those 20% half will verbally criticise and half will put you down.
And if you were to change your methods to please the 20% over time you would loose 20% of your happy followers, in other words no matter what you do you cannot win over 100% of your crowd.

There is always someone who thinks they know better than you and will willingly try to set out to prove it.
So what can you do about that? IGNORE THEM!!! you do not have to justify yourself to anyone your public can look at any one of your videos and see how vastly capable you are, to me you rank amongst the best on the Internet don't let the nay sayers get you down.

I have 100% confidence that the Farmall engine will run and run for the next 20 years, in fact I feel Mustie did a better job on rebuilding it than the previous builder did. People keep in mind it is a low rpm engine, not a 9500 rpm race engine with a super or turbo charger. If the super critical critiquers want to do it different than I suggest they get their own Farmall 4 cylinder engine and show us how they do it. In the meantime I'll watch Mustie show us his problem solving skills and mechanical abilities.

I would have thought those castle nuts would have had folding tab lock washers not cotter pins. Which does the repair manual use?

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Neville Goddard says:

Gidday Darryn another entertaining video! Thanks! I may have missed something but how come the crankshaft has no counterweights? – Cos it's a low power, low revving engine? It looks very weird. Would it need a heavier flywheel because of this?

Having only 3 main bearings & split pins on the rod bolts seems to suggest this.

People should have more confidence in your abilities ay! I know I embarrassed myself when I mistakenly thought you had done the wrong thing!

Here's hoping the oil pump you're waiting for will be ok!

Just heard your comments on the visitors that are critical of the work ethics. I am not a mechanic, but I like turning wrenches. I have learned many things from your videos. I have been able to repair quite a few things at home that were fun to do and saved me money. Keep the great videos coming.

I did mechanic work on engines like this one and I think that you are doing it right never let the people get to you

After watching hours of these Mustie videos, what I don't get is that I've never seen him once stop to go and use the toilet.

Has he been holding it in for all these years?

Hey Dazza another great video! Thank you! Don't worry about any negative comments you may get mate, cos almost everything you do is perfectly done. Predominantly perfectly popping putt putts! If you did everything perfect you'd be a god right? Anyway, when I can pick up some deficiency in a repair process of yours it's a small win for me, & a small win for you too if you also learn something. As you said, we don't know all the discussions you have with your customers regarding costs & procedures, & ultimately you do what the customer wants, regardless of best practice, costs etc. Constructive criticism is one thing, but hateful insults & derision are childish & unhelpful.

I really like how you always consider us viewers; if we're getting a good view of what you're working on, if the light is too glary, if you're spending time on repetitive stuff etc. It's like I'm there with you, & you're talking to me personally, rather than just at a sound & picture box. You try to get the best views for the camera, which shows you care, & are thinking about your audience.

Interesting to see the cost reductions used inside the tractor's engine. It's been a long time since I've seen a 4 cylinder engine with only 3 main bearings, & I can't ever recall seeing one with only 9 head bolts! Obviously not a high performance engine, but I guess a more simpler one, built at the end of the war where I guess they were trying to save on materials.

Do you think the engine block you welded can be saved? It might, however, require a more specialist welder perhaps to do a more long-term repair.
