Can you try CRP Spray intake valve cleaner to maybe help that one bad intake valve to seat better? I don't know, I use that stuff and it helped my trucks performance.
It sounds like Toyota really did the previous owner wrong (along with many many others I assume), I'm surprised he turned around and bought his next truck from them. Not saying any other manufacturer is better but if I just had that experience I think I would be of the mind to give anyone but Toyota my business on the next one!
I had a caravan with a rusted bottomframe! I used Owatrol, recommended to me by a man working on boats! It made it look great and lasted for more than 10 years, unill I sold it, no more problems!
