Can anyone please tell me what tool to use to get that c-clip back in. I have a pair of c-clip pliers that just are not doing the job. I got them at advance auto. Is there a specialty tool?

I'm having this problem where when I put my ford f150 2006 In drive and press on the gass pedal it only revs the engine and then it kicks into gear and starts moving it dose that while I'm driving it and when it comes to a stop I checked the oil off my transmission and it looks fine helppp I can't seem to figure it out and I'm sure I dont need a new transmission because when driving it shifts gears fine

Had an 86 ford van took the family to colorado Springs from IL. in 1988. was traveling in the mountains when I started feeling a thump whenever the trans would shift into low. took it to a transmission shop and had them change the fluid. I asked to be shown the pan before it was cleaned and put back in. saw a little friction material (normal wear) and the tech took a rag and wiped it clean, but then he shook the rag and a broken snap ring fell out. I asked where it had come from and he said it had to come from the trans. told him to put the pan and new filter back. He didn't know what fluid it took so I looked it up. Then proceeded to gingerly drive home to IL. When I got home I found the warranty still had a couple hundred miles left on it.Turns out the snap ring was from the final drive and every time it would go into low it would slam into back housing. I had to pay the $100.00 deductible but they had to tear the trans completely apart just to replace snap ring. so much for Fords snap rings

That's funny. On the service sticker on the hood in your previous video the service shop said they did the trans service at 109k. I wonder if they never really did it due to that plug being in the pan.

You got lucky, I bought an 06 and all that servo stuff is in good shape so I have bigger issues to fix mine.

I wish you the video tape to ride. Awesome fix on that truck. That's awesome. Hopefully you sold it for a lot of money.

Just had this happen to my 2004 f150 stx with 120,000 miles. My broken ring was in 9 pieces. My buddy fixed it no problem, runs like new. Thanks!

Followed all the steps carefully and put a new overdrive cylinder/piston back in. The bad news is it's STILL slipping into neutral the exact same way. Any help or advice???
