Just looking at this video from a different angle, I cannot help but notice how the quality of your videos has changed over the last nine years. It just goes to show that practice does make perfect!
Did the Snowbird bite the dust? Or, does it still survive, hiding in a dark corner somewhere? It would have been nice to see this restored, though I suspect it's a pile of bits in the stash by now, and what was left probably got brushed up into the bin?
That looks like an old bowlins sno-bird. I had a later model version of that machine. Mine was a 1960โs era with an either 7 or 8 hp tacumsa (I think) motor on it with the gravity fed carb
I know I'm late at watching this video, but I hope you did not cut this unit up for parts, I would have taken my time and restored it to it's former glory, just imagine all the belts are right where you can get to them. I had a mower when I was a kid back in the 60's-70's… Still got it too, a Craftsman. Every year I'd cut grass for a few dollars around my block. Then one year I noticed that she was using a little oil and the paint was fading from it's former glory. So I rebuilt it and re painted it along with clear coateing it. Still Got it. She's a bit finicky now but still starts up every spring and I use her to edge the property before getting the ride out to play.
I often wonder why Mustie1 did not get a genuine oldie vehicle from the Roaring Twenties to work on. Surely he has been fixing too many snowblowers, lawn mowers, etc.
I had two Snow Birds from 1963, and they looked a lot newer. Mine had the 4HP Briggs. There was a small version with a 3HP Briggs (flow-jet carb). The cables controlling the chute used to fray and jam, if they got rusty. That was a nightmare! The repair shop called these "Snow Turds!" This one has the "5-3/4HP" (6HP) rated Briggs. This is from '61 or '62 I'd say. Too bad it's pooched!
Thats an S-261. 26" width and its the first year model from 1962. I have the same machine and it still runs today.
