Thumbs up for a cool build and another for the wife who pus up with your eccentricity. How about a throttle tied to the extendable steering tub os that when you pull the wagon, it accelerates and when it catches up it slows to idle?
An idea. Take and old tire and cut off the sidewalls so you are left with a thick rubber belt. Make a frame at the rear of the sled that can be raised and lowered. Attach metal spikes (like cleats) to the rubber belt with the spikes facing out. Then make two adjustable rollers that the belt goes around and fit that assembly onto the adjustable frame. Connect the engine and clutch to the inboard roller. Lower the frame belt assembly until it makes contact with the ground. Design it so the belt presses hard to the ground when adjusted down and your weight is on the sled. When completed the contraption should operate like a snow mobile. Sled down hills with the belt assembly in the up position. Lower the belt to propel you back up the hill. A fall, early winter project. If it doesn't work then you can attach the sled on top of a bench. Start the engine and engage belt. Now see if the rotating spiked belt will work well to remove feathers from chickens.
