Still a good video. My good old Murray is getting harder on the gear shift, but now I know what to do and why this is happening. I have no jack-hammer though :), but with a little more patience it will be fine. I also use marine grease for the snowblower in general.
That's just the results of neglect of the owner not taking care of his equipment properly. That's shift shaft should've never rust on it in the first place. If you lube that shaft every year or two, the shift will always more freely. And make sure you never get any type of lubricant on the drive disc or the rubber wheel. That's your transmission and needs to grip to make the machine move thru the snow.
Nice blizzard here in Wisconsin today – snowblower won't shift into reverse. Got the job done, but had to pull it backwards with my mighty person power. Next semi-warm day, this is my task. Thanks!
Thanks, I was just giving the same model with the same issue.
A Toro 824 mdl 38540 ser 00000131 how do I remove it to find out why it jumps in and out of reverse/forward when blowin snow?
Mustie. Thank you. Where inside did you use the jack hammer on. The bar itself or the rubber wheel coupling housing.
I have a craftsman with the exact same setup
Thanks Hiuli
