Dear sir,I just utilized your test light testing in connector to a 2001ford ranger major charging system fixes.after cleaning and testing all prior to declaring altenator was bad I tested the connector 3 wire to altenator and low and behold,as I had customer repeatedly trying to crank I saw the smallest faint miniscule low light symptom !! Declared altenator dead! Replaced and viola hard work and testing paid off thanks to your mentioning the faintest light on se sor wire of the connector!! Had to really squint it was so small!! Ty sir Jimmy and daisy dog mobile mechanic!.

The sharper the point the better it pierces the wire insulation. Usually a finger is backing that wire and when the light probe slips off and goes into you finger. You keep working like it never happened, when you are done, then you can cry.

Can I use this method to determine the positive and negative of the car light bulb wiring? I need to wire the reverse camera and need to determine the polarity of the reverse light. I plan to connect the wire of the test light to the car body (as a ground) and connect the tip to each of two wires of the reverse light. I assume if it lights up, it means the wire is positive and if not, it is negative? Thanks
