I have been considering one of those metal lathe at Harbor Freight. I'm thinking of going with a Grizzly. I know this is an old video but I love that old Machining like you got there.
I've never seen a Dalton before, but having seen my share of Atlas, Logan, and Southbend lathes, I can tell you that one's quality. Your mom-in-law's a peach.
I inherited my wife's grandfathers lathe he smuggled out of Italy in suitcases after the war when they immigrated to Australia. It was the only thing he bought with him. Love old lathes.
Nice machines, Dalton is highest quality and it looks to be in A1 condition. Going to be some neat projects coming out of your shop now, can't wait for the chip flyin videos !!
Congratulations, remember safety first, those things bite and mame.

Did you ever find out what was behind the "Keep Out" door?
Great find! Your respect for the previous owner makes it all work. Have fun!

You got a rare find there. The accessories alone are worth more than the lathe itself?

Nice little lathe.
Wow! That is gorgeous. So awesome that it stayed in the family and is put to great use.

That's a nice old unit, it'll server you well for a very long time.
Wow!!!! Nice! I'd love to have a lathe like that. That will last a lifetime. That was built when they built REAL machines. Congratulations!
