Why does the battery spill acid? If they can't prevent the spill a plastic tray liner won't break down with the acid. Then put some baking soda to neutralize the acid.
I'm a newbie on this channel. But the the more I see, the more I realize how massive this project is. Darren, you're really impressive. I think there's not a square inch you didn't have to look at and fix. I learn a lot by watching you and your tech info. Good work, man, good work ! Tsk !
i see you doing battery trays on every vdub you work on. why haven't you gone to using boat battery boxes? they are plastic and will contain all the acid and eliminate corrosion

In the last days I having watched all 26 videos and enjoyed them very much, really great work, I did the same on a Volvo 242 about 10 years ago brought many good (and dirty) memories back , thanks for the videos, have subscribed to you channel and enjoying the series of the tractor ๐
How would you strap the battery in place? Should have welded some nuts under or on top for threaded rods to secure your battery.
Itโs so much easier to make your own replacement panels than trying to get the aftermarket ones to fit!! Good job!
The more I watch this series, the more I wanna go strangle the absolute crap out of the so called "body shop" that worked on it before you got it.

I think the new part are for the VW T2b ,this modell it is a little bit different like the first one.
Great job on the battery tray mustie1.
I wonder if coating the battery tray in polyurethane truck bed liner would stand up to the acid.
Out of curiosity — would a stainless steel battery pan be impervious to battery acid? How about aluminum? Always enjoy your videos, Mustie!
Nice job more double cab please
Battery repair panels – also aftermarket – are often made bigger to
refit them exactly into the cut out bodypart.
Cutting and bending is common.
Great fix Mustie ๐
