I had met up with a local subscriber at a car swap meet and he told me about this antique sled/cart/boat/plane kinda thing, and thought it would make for great video content, well I agree. lets check out this trade and see what we got.
Hey guys, how's it going? A little peek at the old garage for Nostalgia Anyway, today we are working on a trade and uh, for something pretty cool. Somebody contacted me on and a couple of pieces that we're gonna go swap over. One is going to be this Honda EX generator. We did a video on a couple years ago and I don't know if I put it away with fuel in it or not. It may need a little bit of love and servicing and then another machine that I have. So let's go bring this to the other garage. we'll go through it, we'll go through another machine that's going to be part of the trade and hopefully we'll go over and see how that trade goes without further. Ado Let's get into it. and the other half of the trade is this: Clinton moped that I think we did about four or five years ago and it's been sitting probably ever since then. he hasn't any air in the tires anymore. All right, let's go start with the Uh generator first and we'll move on to this. Chances are running out of gas, a little things in there. Take a peek that's promising. Let's go either all pissed out where I ran it out of gas. go throw a little bit of fuel in there, see if she fires up and operates like it it's supposed to. I think we got some ethanol free to put in there. The good stuff, that's not overdue. We don't get just enough to a little run I should have had to filter in first. Get in there. a little Honda Generators are nice there, good quality and they're nice and quiet to be good for like a camper or something. Life of a dyslexic. Which way would you say the choke is on like that? I mean Nicole said I Think this is the fuel shut off and on to let it sit a second. Let us see if it'll fill the float ball. How many poles if it's gonna go? I'm gonna say it'll do it on four, one, two, all right. I'm gonna try to turn that choke off, cutting a little bit a little warm up. Go get something to plug in and see if it works. Hello, it's easy one down. All right. get into the moped before we move on. One thing is kind of cool. It's got a glove box, a little spark plug socket tool in it, all built in foreign motorcycle. you know, it comes, a little tool kit and the plugs right there. and our second victim. Let's see what this one has to offer. It's looking pretty good I Don't see any fuel way down in the bowels of it, so hopefully I did the same thing. Look at me being proactive, Clean them out. Let's go throw a little bit of pre-mix in there and we'll just see if we give her a couple of kicks and she'll fire up. We need to turn anything on or off. that's kill charging signal I think you just kind of pedal and yell. we're up on the stand. Yeah, let's go get a little bit of fuel on her. Then again, I'm looking and this is a fuel line, not a breather hanging off. That might be an issue. Yeah, there's the pet right there. Let's um, why is this cover loose too? Maybe that's how I drained it I don't know I don't know the answer to it. All right? Yeah, that's not gonna do much. All right. we'll leave that off. for now. try to figure out where the off position is, throw some gas in it. let's see if it pisses out and then we'll hook the fuel line up. Worst case, you pop the carb off and clean the bowl out. Yeah, threw some guessing. Let's go flick it to reserve see if it pisses anything. Yep, good. all right. let's go through the fuel line back on there. That's probably how I drained it when I put it away. At least that's the story I'm going with all right. I gotta grab a little pair of pliers to get that on there and I have shaky cam look it's dripping even though it's off. Foreign? Yeah the Pet's leaking tripping all over. I think it's got an o-ring in there. Oh, that's going to be an issue. It filled the car it was. Can we shut it off and have it stop? Well, he's pissing. It'd be nothing to run It Yeah, so there's gonna be an O-ring back here. That's beat. Probably why the whole thing is leaking. It's just like a little. I'm probably gonna end up pulling that apart. Is it a bad having gas drip on the engine when you're trying to light it? Let's give her a couple of kicks. See what we get? What do we got for a choke? Is it cable operated? Yeah. See two cables going down. So one's got to be a choke right there. Actually will that click into place and hold? No. Come on me, talk to me. I Think I gotta pull one of the levers in too. Okay, that was kind of pretty good too. Nice and quiet. Yeah, she's still in good shape. Seems like all the lights are working I have some directions for it I Don't know if these are gonna do anything right now as a horn work that's a rabbit. kind of like wants to as it's pissing gas out good. That one started pretty easy too. Kill Switch I can go throw some air in those tires and um I wonder if we could just pitch that fuel line? I'm not gonna be able to pinch the fuel line off and you can lean it on its side so the gas isn't on this side. We'll take that little valve out see if we can get an O-ring or something for that to stop it from pissing this You can get that out. I Don't know. Is it a screw or a Phillips it's a bit screw I think is it? Nope. Allen pack all right now. Something's holding it in there or is that not even doing anything? Got to get a better look at it. Let's go take her right off. Not even tight. Go bring that over to the bench. Let's see if you do a little surgery over there. it's gonna be a bent over on the floor. Although it has what it looks like an allen screw right, there's that. It's on the back side. Couldn't see it. That's what's holding it. Hopefully now we're gonna hit it with a drill. Let's get that out of there. We gotta try to come up with some. My guess is is that there's an o-ring in there, but it might just have um, this flat disc with a couple of ports in it. Would say that is an O-ring right there where we're going to go put an o-ring in there. I'll make it seal. Let's go get. um, let's go get a 10 mil. Take the bowl off. let's see if there's any crap in there too. you know should be a screen or nothing. Should be a filter in there and that that's looking pretty brittle too. I Don't think it was leaking from there though. so let's go. just kind of concentrate on getting the main twist valve. stop pissing. Let's see if you can take that out of there praying just you don't totally destroy it. Take it out. Flip it over. Unfortunately, like when this thing was made, there was an ethanol fuel stuff. kind of held up to it. Almost looks like it's cork. Come on, come on out in one piece. Now we're screwed. Ah, broken. Come on you bastard. Peace man thing goes down in about three miles. No wonder why. Yeah, it's cork. so I'll bust that up now. After that, that's beat. Should have left well enough alone and we're not gonna have anything that looks like that. I Was hoping to put an o-ring in it and it's got that what looks like a passageway in it. I'm gonna go look and see we have another valve we can go put in there. That's why it wouldn't come out. You look at it. you can see the brass you see down there. the little brass nub. Grab a light. add that little brass nub that was holding it from coming out. opening that passageway, we could try shoving it all back down in there. I Don't think that's gonna work for us. Let me look. let me see if we've got another valve. If not, we'll try to doctor this one back. Go ahead. Another one laying around was a different style. this is you know, kind of ones that bolt up to a tank. Not with the threads so just wedged the pieces back in there. Damp around the front of it, but it's not pouring out like it was. Let's see what we get. we turn it to off. We definitely wouldn't say it's the end of the world. Did not expect to see that in the center. that's the first one usually. I've seen them wear like the center of its brass and that goes through and then like either there's no ring on the end of it or there's like a flat washer with different holes in it. Too bad about that. It's a good thing we didn't fill it up, but let's see, she'll still run I Blew through it with air and you know the ports were still working All right for about 20 minutes or so I was gapping on the phone. Let's uh, give her one last shot, give her some choke and we've got to pull a lever to make it go es nice for sitting hibernation of I Know it's probably at least four years. three or four years it hasn't gone in. It does need a new piece of Corker in there, but it looks like it's doing all right well. I'm gonna go air up the tires, throw that cover back on there. if you can, go make a trade. What do you think? The chances are that tassel's gonna hold up I'm getting all the way there as you can see it. Meteor one there, zoom in on it. there's one there, come back out and then there's another one. Another two over here. see them all in the distance. Also give you a shower just going over the horizon right now. All right guys. We made it to our final destination of our trade and you can tell the guy kind of likes mopeds I would call them moped mad I guess if it works. So he's happy with the trade with the bike and the Honda generator and this is what we're going for. And uh, Matt will tell us a little bit about this. Yeah, so this is a 1959 Headstrom Speed Mobile I Actually bought this from my co-worker whose grandfather bought it brand new. My co-worker is in his 50s and he used to ride this as a kid. uh, believe it or not in 1959 when his grandfather bought this, it was 98 dollars. So crazy money back then for this rig, but all original as you can see and really cool. Yeah, it looks like never been repainted or anything. that's cool. Uh, the wheels look like oh uh. Wheelbarrow? no wheelbarrow? um little red wagon? Yeah. I Was just thinking that yeah and this one as you can see has got some use out of it. And it's not a brake wheel, was the brake wheel? Yeah, but that's not all that this machine has. That's something a little bit special if you look at the back of it, there's some apparatus put on there and the apparatus is meant to run. relax So that is a fan unit that attaches to it made by Dragonfly and it has a little skeezy. You take the wheels off of you, put those skis on it and would you say that he ran out on a lake or something? Yes Yeah it was this ice rig so he take the wheels off and he actually custom made these welded them all himself as you can see did a great job and with the fan volt motor pushing it and the skis on it it's a nice rigs. So I figure what we do is probably go and pick at the go-kart and get that up and running as its own unit. and then as the weather gets a little colder and hopefully uh, we get some ice on a lake without too much snow, we can go try that setup. So let's go drag this into the truck and leave Matt alone with his moped collection here. In addition, back of my stash I Remember having some Wheels but I think he's gonna be the wrong size? Foreign? That's like a 12 inch diameter. We'll bring them with us but they're for like a Soapbox Derby car from the 50s. Oh well. if we could show you what it looks like with the fan mounted on the back of it, that's different, huh? Yeah. Safety? Yeah. Well we got as much of an issue back then. You gotta chase down some. Wheels The ones that I thought I had were way too big in my mind. They wear the same size but I think like old wheelbarrows and like little kids. little red wagon had that style I'm sure I can find them online too. and there's the skis. you'll pop the wheels off, put them on the axles front and rear so it's uh, too warm yet we need a frozen lake to put this across I don't think it's gonna have enough power to do anything else but flat. Uh AC conditions with that could be about two horsepower. Three horsepower in the fan to push it. Engine on the go-kart is probably about the same, so maybe we'll Chase it as a go-kart separate. We'll get that up and running on one video and then in a later date we'll get the fan on it, get that running and try it with the fan set up. But for now I think we're gonna call it guys I Just want to share the Little trade that we had going with. uh what it was I think I take you along with me and we'll play with this one pretty soon. so till the next one I'll see you later. Yeah, I'll be close.
I had one of those when I was about 10 or 11 but dad changed out the vertical shaft 2 cycle for a horizontal shaft 2.5 HP edger engine. There was a lot of modification but it scooted good enough for me to flip it in an asphalt parking lot. I survived and he governed it back till I got older.
That choke label is still exactly the same on newer, fancier Honda generators… I have to look in the manual every time still 🤦🤷
I do miss the old garage days
Now that is just cool as hell but you would think the fan should shove it around on the tires also
i found a chunk of yellow fuel line that worked perfect to replace the cork
Did you say "is it a screw or a philips" lol
Love watching your picks looking forward to watching the cart what a interesting project
Not meteors… Rodan and the Giant Claw… ( Jets ) 😂😂😂
I can see a few broken bones or crushed testies coming up. Looks like fun ahead
one of my favorite youtubers! thanks Mustie
If I was a skeptical person I'd say the Honda spot was a setup. 😁
Boys and our toys! Neat stuff
Nice to be back in the old garage. Lots of good memories there.
