Watch for body rust under the wheel flairs and just behind the front wheel in front of the door. Also the bottom edges of the tailgate especially closer to the sides of the vehicle.

i had a 1998 Toyota 4runner had same problem rusted out frame i had to junk the car.. i find out hard way it almost killed me when SUV had a very bad body roll i was all over the road going 65 MPH . it sad cuz there nothing wrong with my 1998 4runner everything works on the SUV.. so i got $200 for it at a junk yard and i paid $5000 for SUV a year ago . i really think there should be a recall on this . i guess there waiting fr someone get killed before they make a recall

So the stuff around the gas tank is plummers tape and a trick to knock out rust in motorcycle gas tank and small motors gas tank use b.b's and put them in and shake it for a while then dunp out the b.b's and blow it out with compressed air.

Sir, do you take work like this? I have a 1999 Toyota 4Runner that needs exactly this repair. I am looking for someone to do this. If you DO take work like this, what state are you in and how would I contact you?

I have a 2004 4runner with rusted frame. Prob 4-5 visible holes in various places. is the general approach best to slap a plate over the top versus clearing it out and cutting a size to fit in the original frame?

Just to help inform you on that little engine that you have. It's a power products AH47 engine. Fairbanks Morse only made the side cover's and the recoil starters for these engines. Sometime in the mid to late fifties tecumseh bought out power products. The only reason I know this is because I'm an out of control chainsaw collector

Don't you love how they make the frame out of stamped sheet metal so thin that a little rust and it's gone! Toyota quality? yeah right!
