That was a great buy! I had a '72 Evinrude 6hp that was very similar to this one – outstanding OB motor, dependable as all get out. Gave it to my son to enjoy, and it's still in nice shape.
That's an awesome little motor. I didn't know they made them that small. I know horsepower wise they did but shoot that sucker doubles go on the back of a canoe. It would be a really fast canoe though.
just got a motor like this on a small jon boat I bought. any advice on adjusting the fuel mixture on the engine. I usually mix the gas/oil at 50 to 1…just wondering about carbs on this old thing
Yeah, not pumping much water….But, you got a bargain on one of the mose reliable outboards ever made…This engine is worth the investment of a new water pump and water ever else it needs to keep it humming for years to come…
i own the same engine. 6 hp evinrude fisherman. its a 1973. the most reliable motor ive ever owned. starts on first pull runs so smooth. just change out the lower gear oil and plugs once a year, winterize properly if nec.. and you are set for another 30 years.

Great deal for $2 and the satisfaction of bringing another one back from the dead.
