A local subscriber reached out to me with a Hyosung AQUILA 250 GV250 that he bought new, it was getting harder and harder to start then died while riding 9 years ago, he wanted it gone so lets see what it failed for and can we get it running again.

Hey guys, how's it going? I'm here with John John contacted me on a bike that he's had laying around. that uh, he's giving away give a little bit of the backstory on it. What happened to it? Uh, back story is I bought the bike new in the box uh, 3 years after it was uh, produced from down the street here at Mom's Um, didn't ride it much I learn how to ride the bike on this one. um I had to rely on the bike for a few months when I was without a car.

So I was driving it daily every day. Um, and sadly the last day I needed to use it. the motor up and quick. wow you you riding it.

It just died on you. It did. yeah um. it had started smelling a little bit like a old lawnmower.

Okay I had not changed the oil. It was getting hard to start and it would stall out a little bit. okay while I'm riding it and then it just stalled W start again I presume it's uh, compression? um I was able to tow it home I drained the oil, put new oil in it. There was nothing on the plug, you know, few few little scrapings, but it never made any cataclysmic noises.

Um I I Okay, I Don't think it'll need a whole lot, but it's been sitting for years. Of course it'll need a lot. It's been sitting a couple years here, you think? Okay, yeah, so we're going to drag it back. We'll try to figure out diagnose what happened to it.

Possibly get it running? Maybe not. If not, we'll figure out uh, at least what happened John appreciate it appre sure what happen is right here. It's a two-cylinder too. That might be a blown head gasket on that one.

I'm sure that's all it is. We should. you think we would run on the front one still though. Anyway, we'll find out.

All right. Come on you fat pig. get up there. of course.

Come stay all right now that we're back at the shop and get a better look at what we got going on. So it's actually a 2009 3 of 09. How you pronounce that agilla ailla is the A Q UI L A Heung which I think is South Korea they were made I'm not that sure I never really kind of heard about them before this and uh, we're wondering how long it sat he saying a few years I believe the inspection sticker on the front is 2015 so this is 2024 and we are 9 years into how long that's been sitting. I think he said it failed while he was riding it.

This it was getting harder and harder to start and then it just lost all power and it died on them and that was it. Yeah, 15 is the sticker on it. breaks the draging real bad trying to push around. The only thing I did so far is put air in the tires and he gave me a battery and I threw that on a trickle charger overnight and we'll see if that has any chance of recovering.

Kind of doubt it. It's probably going to be again at least 9 10 years old too. So let's um, get it up in the air. I Think the wires are cut on the ignition too.

I Think somebody tried stealing it at some point. Yeah, somewhere up here that's just a wire set of the headlight. Who knows, maybe the ignition switch they cut them. Hard to say but we'll start getting into it.
We'll start either again, try to figure out what happened to it and or possibly if we could resurrect it. I Think he also said it ran out of oil and he put oil in it. but it it never like not cranked over it, didn't make any funky noises. I Do see a bunch of you know moisture around here.

It looks like it's been pissing a little bit. All right, let's get up in the air. I Guess we start with oil first. go see what this goty anything in it.

Yeah, let's go grab some pliers. Better get it. We don't break the plastic off. You know? there you go.

That doesn't tell us much. It's got little yeah, it's got the little eyeball sight glass in it down on the side right there. Let's go get a light. All light might be a little bright for you.

Is there anything in there? It is either overfilled and we can't see it. Rock it a little. Well, there's nothing in it. Kind of hard to tell.

It's kind of looking like it's overfill. Actually, that's your thoughts. What if you can see anything through the drain plug up top? He said he didn't see anything in it. It's like give as much of an option.

All right, let's go see if we can find where the battery setup is I Don't know if it's behind the side cover or under the seat. Popping in the popping in the stand? See that just pops off? Yeah, it does now. Looks like the battery access is through here. Got a little keeper on it.

We got what? See, that's our ground. That's our hot. Actually, that's our ground that's hot. And then we got two more.

I don't know what these are running. Maybe it goes up to the dash and need it just for the starter. Let's go. Uh, get a jumper pack on it.

Actually, let's go check that battery real quick. There's that battery. he been on a trickle charger and let's go get it. We can.

uh Take the Lead off. see how much that is Not got a healthy 12 volts to it. Let's go use a a jumper pack instead. We'll leave this on there for a while just in case it's got a data on or not.

I Would say again it it's been parked for years. That battery is 10. 15 years old. Well you know we're going to have to dig into it anyway.

So I got the jumper pack here, but it's kind of getting ahead of our let's get this. the seat out of the way, the gas tank off, get the plugs out of it. you know, get some oil down the cylinders. all that kind of thing.

you know if it has a Saving Grace Let's try not to kill it right away. so let's go see we can find out how that stuff's held on. I saw on the other side like a keyhole right there. Let's go see if that does anything for the seatan up yet.

What are the other two keys for? No. I'm going to work on that I don't want to overdo it. This one pop off. yeah, it might be trapped under this cover.

Let's go get that screw out of there. get that cover off, get that off off. we'll try working our way up. I Guess yeah, was holding that? this game going to go all the way down.
there we go. Oh the screw off was all the so that's got the fuel pump and then the key and the cable going up. Can we just pull on it? I'm going to peek underneath, see if I can fire the lever and get the seat to go up out of the way. I would think we just have to make the cable longer there.

It Go All right now we get to the bolts for the gas tank. I If you can see the right right there, let's get them out. and what we got for fuel lines going to it. a bunch of them or looks like just one there and these two probably go up.

One's probably a pulse and the other one's fuel going to it. Let's get that fuel line off those two bolts off. I know it's got gas in it I hear it splashing around when I was pushing the bike up and I'm sure that's some good quality fuel. At least it's got the gray fuel lines that seems to be what holds up a little bit better to the uh, methanol in the fuel.

You think good? All right. let's get these two up. let back you up a little bit and lift that tank off. Think that'll wiggle right out of there.

Oh, it's full sometimes. Actually full is a a good sign for a gas tank because doesn't leave any air space for it to. Um, all right. we got a a fuel gauge where that wire breaks.

it's got a sending even to the tank. It must have a gas gauge on the dash. at least a low fuel fancy is that. And there's like a a breather hose now.

I Think we got it. Oh yeah, it's full. surpris he siphon the gas out of it. Four gallons of old gas.

All right. let's get a bit of eyeball. we got going on now so we can get to the plugs. Get that one.

And where is that other one? Maybe we unbolt that radiator? We can get to it. It's right in in there. Let's go. Uh, we'll start with this one up here.

Come on, it's a Hemi. Get the plugs out of it and we'll dribble a little bit of oil in it. Then we'll try maybe hooking a battery to it and spinning it. actually.

can we? Um I like to be able to spin it by hand first? Let's go pop that out once. I It's going to be wet. one side, it's going to be dry. This is the charging system side.

it might be on. might be dry. You take the whole cover off. Yeah.

I Know nothing about these bikes. Haven't looked anything up because that takes all the fun out of it. It's got an o-ring on it so that's going to be wet, but it does look like might be able to spin it if we can get a socket on that. That's good.

Can we see an oil level? No. Yeah. Took these screws out of the uh I think that's an oil cooler I don't think it has any antifreeze in it and uh, that gave us access to that front plug which should be good. and the back jug is the one that looks like it's uh, got some leaking between.

The Head And the cylinder oil staining. See we? hopefully there's no rust on it that sucks my rubber not holding. Yeah, let me get a a plug with a better uh ying-yang in it. Let's go try this one.
This one's got a magnet in it that work. There we go. H Definitely a bunch of rust that ain't good. That means the that means the cylinder has a bunch of rust in it too.

Good thing we pull the plugs out before we even tried cranking it. Go get the uh front one out. That one sounding chalky coming out too. Yeah, what do you look like? Oh, that one's even worse than the first one.

Yeah, let's um, shoot some oil in those cylinders. Kind of thought about putting a scope down there and peeking, but let go. Just shoot some caros or some oil in there and uh, we'll see if we can get a socket on that. We'll see if it'll Rock back and forth for us.

So the back cylinder is not too bad cuz it's almost straight up and down. that front one's leaning and the problem is you can't get um, this is automatic transmission fluid. You can't get a bunch of the Ring surface wet cuz it's on an angle. This one's not so bad because if you put I know see about an inch of oil in it.

it'll make it all the way around the cylinder. Let's just let that one run down in there. There's a hollow in there and the valves are probably closed. It's pissing out pissing out the exhaust.

I This is okay. Yeah, it's not a hole in the block right? That looks like it's coming out of a maybe the head gasket. You see it? Yeah, be neat if it just blew both head gaskets. huh? Hard to tell that might be coming out of the muffler too.

Dripping down? Yeah. I think that's what it's doing I Just go try that front cylinder. see what we get. hose I'm using.

Want to play? well? Get in here? We in the hole. Sometimes you got to ask? You know? Yeah, you guys got a better view than I do. This is the one that's going to take more. Like I said, it's on an angle so it should be good.

All right, let's go get our a socket and put it on that. Hopefully this engine turns. This one's pissing out the front too. Where's that just where I spilled? Let's go see where this one's coming out and it's coming out the exhaust right there.

If it bleeds, we can kill it. You think 17 or 19? I'm thinking 19 will fit through the hole. No, just mix it all right. 17.

All right. See what we get? Ah, she turns. It's going to piss oil out the plug holes, but that's okay. It doesn't feel, doesn't feel bad.

I I Expected to see a little bit more resistance. Spinor good. better safe than sorry though, right? Let's um, get that jumper pack now. see if we could shoot oil across the shop.

Actually feels pretty good. Got no plugs in so we can't tell about compression, but at least um I don't feel anything like clacking this little into it right there. It makes some kind of that might be like cam chain. All right.
let's go grab ourself a jumper pack and uh, see if it starter works at all this B look those are the two plugs that were in it. How much rust was on them I was thinking that yeah, the top of that cylinder had to look bad too. this was this was actually the front one. What's the how we got to hook power up to? But let's get that, uh, air cleaner off just in case there's a mouse.

Nest You don't suck it in I think that's where it is under here. Seems like a lot of Motors just to be a 250, doesn't it all? What we got? Is there an air cleaner in there? Keep going. don't see any signs of M that's a good sign. There's a big airbox up top.

We got two decent Siz carburetors on it 28 mm Maybe I Would think they're all kind of all boogered up too. but let get away. Ah, head of yourself air filter. All right, You found one and see.

can get out of there. Is it? The whole thing is a split back here? Yeah good. It's got screen on it. I'm not going to about mises.

Let's go get that jumper pack and hook it up to these wires over here. All right. So we need what we got. two grounds and two Hots right was a bigger that's hot, that's a ground.

It was A There it is. You're looking right at it, see any smoke comes out actually. the jumper pack. let's um, energized jumper pack.

We'll see if it arcs when we connect to it all. make sure nothing's that. one's good, one's good. she don't touch anything hot.

Go grab that key out of it. we leave it in the seat thing didn't we? Where's that? Oh there it is. All right. let's go see.

let's go climb up there. anything decides to come alive. Nothing you would have to. probably no horn.

so it got a kill switch on it somewhere that's lights be crank. it won't crank unless the clutch is in anyway, right? My guess. I don't think we got power to anything. Let's go look at those wires where they're ripped out.

see if we can, um do anything. Can't even read this one anyway. I think that would be kill. one of those is on.

One of those is off. The prince wore out of it though. Let's um, look at those wires. like I said.

and what we could probably do too is just put Power right to that starter. Can we see it? There is there? It is. So we got actually put Power right to that and get it to crank. But let's go see what's going on up here.

They just cut them. Let's grab a light. What they cut them out of. It's like somebody tried unbolting it.

One of the bolts are missing from the gauge. I don't see where those wires are cut from, do you? They might have just ripped it right out. Look at that crazing on that headlight. huh? From the Sun it looks like that wire harness right there.

I'm talking about that right there. Looks like it's pulled out of its socket too. All right, let's go um Power right to the star and we'll listen to the engine. I'm more concerned about that right now.
Whatever's going on there, we got that cap off of there I Want to see if it spits out oil? Let's see if that starter does anything for us. Ground clamp is right on the uh, it's right down in the there it should Arc and spin cranking the oil. That's a good sign. I Can't do my uh, you know the finger thing for the compression.

Let's um, see if we can get a compression test. If I got one small enough. let's get a compression test and uh, see if there's anything kicking in those cylinders. Good.

At least it spins little adapter. you think that's the right one, looks close doesn't it? and then this threads into the regular uh hose setup. So go. I'll put that on the hose and we'll try to spin that hole assem down inside there.

One of my jumper packs a little on the low side cuz it didn't seem like a spin it very fast. did it and get on there. and next thing too, we got to get it so that we can open the throttle. see if this threads in first.

think we got something. got a fish on? think that think that throttle will move for us. Yeah good. We're going to get something to clamp that forward so that the air can come in.

Get like that. work close enough. 9/10 throttle. What's your guess? I'm going to say 60 lb.

You got it wet with oil too, so that's going to if anything help it. Oh nice. it's Pegg in the gauge. Something doesn't seem right I wonder if it's got a valve that that seems awful a lot doesn't it? I Guess it's better than none.

at least means the compression chamber is holding. Let's go try that again. that I've never seen that before. So I wonder if that's um, got some issue where something's not doing what it's supposed to.

Let's see if the front kind of follows that same scenario I think that end comes out with it, please? Yeah good. All right. let's go try the front one. All right.

r that front cylinders to relieve that pressure from before. let see what we get I Don't know if the oil is causing all that. Yeah that it identifies as a diesel. you would think the I can see the oil like closing up the compression chamber like making the compression chamber smaller.

Volume is not as great, but I wouldn't expect that high. You think it would just kind of push through the valves and and push its way out of there. Let's um I may go and crank it for a little bit. maybe get a car battery cuz what do what are we reaching on? What are we reading on here? That's a little on the low side.

I Think we can actually do a test right? So tell me a charge show the battery pack is at 122 123. Yeah, uh yeah. I'm going go work on something. see we can, uh set up and maybe we'll spin it over a little faster, try to push some of that oil out and try once again.

Another thing I Noticed the oil level came correct again on the crank. I Guess maybe it was over fall cuz all the um, the oil system kind of drained itself down to the crank. Now that we spun it, it kind of filled up the system again. which is good, huh? And well again, the compression is super high that couldn't go away.
I would think that um yeah, we would have a blown head gasket or something along those lines. could have fell for something else. Maybe it's totally different. We'll see I thre the other one on the charger.

this is the old one. this is the old Mac Pack that one says it's got some kind of voltage in it. The only problem with this I should say problem. The only issue with this one, it doesn't have the Onoff switch so as soon as you hook up to it, it's going to spin.

Doesn't sound all that much better does it? Who's Brad idea to put all that oil in there? Um, let's look into so we got compression. um on the over side I'm having a Feeling Again that 300 rating is just because it's got you know, this much oil in it that's not clearing itself out. I Thought it would have pushed itself out, but apparently not. probably to take a turkey Bas are in there too draw some out.

Um, let's look into what is happening with this electrical system. I Want next thing I Want to kind of check for is see if we can have spark if he's lost that. um and we're going to need this ignition system to kind of do what it's supposed to. So let's um, let's crack that headlight open.

we'll see what the wires are and I guess we'll probably have to pull that ignition switch out. My guess is that of there, let's go pop some covers off. Let's get rid of this. Get the headlight open and get a better idea what we got going on inside there.

My thought is, if that is coming out of the ignition switch that it's broken right off the switch, so that might be a bit of an issue. whereas hopefully under here there's like a plug or something that it came out of a lot of times. They use the headlight for uh with just a like where all the wires get bundled and attached to each other. We got plastic H anything anything showing half a of wires I Was hoping for something like that.

What's this one? No, let's get the headlight open. You think the chances are that we Google a wiring diagram for this thing and it pops up. Are they even in business anymore? High Something we in business selling bikes in this country. Seems like around that time there was a bunch of stuff that was trying to come in.

get another third one. So the third one's going to suck to get to. of course there is. It is right there.

right up against that part right there. So I think we're going to have to, um, loosen those 10 mm bolts right there and get the headlight to to kick up? Yeah! I Tried loosening the bolts on the side with a nut and bolt. You can't really get to the nut on other side. Let's see if we can drop this out of our way and they put it together.
It's got to be able to come apart right? All right, that's the last one. Be a good engine for like a a shifter car. I Don't know how heavy it is? How about now? All right. so those wires I'll bring you around have nothing to do with the headlight.

They are for the um, like I said where a junction would meet up. There's no Um so it goes in and right back out again. these would be the headlight wires on the other side. So we do need to figure out where they went.

which is going to be my guess. Probably pull that ignition switch stuff up out of there. Let's get the Um. probably.

I don't know, all of it. Maybe we'll get, um, loosen that bracket up out of the way. get us closer to that ignition switch. My guess is, that's where it's going, right? That's the way It shows that that other wire is kind of pulled out of its socket right there like somebody yanked on it real hard.

See, that hurts up out of there. All right. let's get some more bolts out. I Got that loose up there.

but we also have more wires on this side I Failed to look into. Let's go see if it pulled out any any of the plug or the socket on this side. I Just don't see anything up there where like a tell no we at the shot though. right? All right, Can you see up top? How about this? Probably unplug that right? Where does that go? Starting to look like the ignition switch again? Why else would you pull out any other wires other than the key? If you think you were able to start it right, let's get that out though.

let's go look in there. I Don't think so. let's get some light. No, it looks pretty good all right.

Onward see what we got for the ignition switch setup. What holds that in place? It's like 210 mm. Oh there it is right there. It's cut right there.

Well, there's your problem. Did you guys see that before? I Totally missed it? All right. Let's go get those. um 2 10 mm out.

We'll strip back this jacket and we'll repair these. We'll make this pigtail one again. Probably can unplug it in there, right? Let's get we'll plug it right there. We'll get that and that onto the bench.

We'll spice them back together. Yeah, it's funny how sometimes you can't see right in front of your face something's apart I was looking at this and yeah it looked okay I have a feeling like I got to look back at the video I'm making excuses. Can you tell maybe this was sitting right against the uh cover? It looked like it went into something. Excuses kind of knew what the failure was too, right? Like it wasn't uh, disclosed.

All right. So my only other concern is what did. So they tied these two wires together. Who knows what does and doesn't make stuff go.

Just concerned that um, when they did that, they didn't cook something. you know? uh I think I'm actually going to go with I'm not going to solder a bunch of stuff I'm just going to get butt connectors. we throw them on there. for now.
My plan is really not to make this a functioning motorcycle. who knows, but more of like a um, let kind of think we could use the the drivetrain for something. I think it's like I want to say 28 horsepower around there claimed claimed 28 horsepower with a probably a five-speed that's in it. So yeah, I'll take Buck connectors I'll splice these all back together.

we'll shove it in there and we'll see if anything energizes. Then we can check for spark and that's the next biggest thing. especially after this was done to it right here. All right.

So we take care of that heon. That's a high-tech repair right there. Anybody tell you different? Any, we're not going to bolt it all up, we'll just kind of shove stuff back together and plug it in and turn it on see if it comes back to life. All right.

Battery Pack is hooked up to the where the battery would go. Let's turn it on. Give me something. Nothing anyy.

Oh there you go. It has 9,000 9300 M on it. Fuel tank is thinking it's full or it's doing a self test. Something like that.

High beam is on. Let's um, go up top and hit the crank button, see if anything happens. see if the starter part works, huh? I Don't know if we need to hit the break or not. I Got the clutch squeezed in.

Let's go see if this should be the crank. I Think there it goes. Definitely. Durling Spitting some oil kind of get you out of harm away.

you see it getting on the fender. um let's uh, put the plugs in it on the wires and see if we get spk. I got the both of them right there and hopefully yeah, this one's arcing down below like it's jumping across the body and I can't see that one. that one's definitely arcing.

What about this one? I think one goes the other one would, right? Yep, all right good. that's a good thing. Biggest thing I was afraid of is electrical issues. You know, especially if it's kind of computer controlled and chasing that stuff sometimes can be a nightmare.

So it's got compression. looks like it is decent. kind of hard to tell. Got so much oil in it and we have spark.

why did it die? He said it was getting harder to start. my get it had to be fuel. had to be fuel issues happening to it again. Now it's definitely going to have fuel issues being that the gas is that old.

Um I think there's too much oil in it to dribble a little bit of fuel down it and try to get it to crank and see if it'll start. So let, um, you want to try it I Think it'll hurt, right? It's let go, dribble a little bit of fuel down each one. We'll throw the plugs back in it, put the wires on it, and uh, we'll see if it, uh if if it has enough to go fire. if it could spin fast enough, it will probably clear push the oil out.

you know, the exhaust. But uh, I have a feeling there's so much oil in them that um, it's just gonna flood the plugs out, flood the plugs out. Let's go try again. That front cylinder actually might be okay to get it to if it fires on one of them.
you know, in the hole this one you got to dive her down I Need light Doesn't do any good if we do it on the outside of the plug. I Don't regret shooting the oil down there because judging by those plugs, there was some Rust that was in there. That's more than enough. I'll do the same on that back cylinder.

Throw the plugs in. all right, see if we can get her to putt we going to get rid of the Full Throttle that's for sure clutches in. That is fine. it's going to turn the key on.

we got Dash Yes, we do. All right, shall we? Where's the choke? Uh I think the choke is off, which we want. good see if we get anything out of it smoking you want? try and give it a little throttle just a little I think it probably Purge through whatever it had. it blew some smoke out though.

Yeah. I don't want to kill it. kill the starter. Hey, this the tool kit.

Let's um, maybe try screw with it a little bit more. See if we have a vacuum line we could dump fuel. there's one, so that's the intake boot right there. We can probably get fuel in on that intake and it goes up around.

We're going to have to get those carbs off anyway. Tail light works. Let's um. I'm going to get this out of the way I Don't know if the airbox has to come out first or after the carb is off of it or what actually is this.

The bottom of the float bows right here. It's sitting on a weird angle. It is how they work. You think it would be like that, would you? what? if you get the bottom of the float BS off you kind of see the condition they're in.

I'm going to dig a little bit. let's get this cover off of here. I Still like to try to get at the fire on. um yeah, the gas comes in there and take some stuff out of the way that's so close.

Turn the key off and I probably should take the Um extension cord. We'll plug it into the Um jumper pack getting there. actually good thing I Looked at the camera cuz you had B old oil blob in your eye I Got some starter fluid. We got more than enough oil in the cylinder so that shouldn't be an issue.

Let's um, give that a shot and see if it does anything. There you go. good. It'll push your oil out.

Let try it one more time. S pretty good. Actually want to run to get that oil out? Awesome. Got all right good.

We thought we had bad head cylinder heads or valves or something. Actually seem pretty good. Quiet too, huh? Awesome. awesome, Awesome.

Yea, all right. let's um, turn that key off and um, actually it's already off. Let's um, get into those carbs and see what's going on with those I Wonder if we can get we'll take this bracket down out of our way. We'll try pulling those bowls off right where they are.

Is that a thing? Kind of looks like they have it set up to be able to do that? Don't they? All right? Let's get some of this out of our way. Let's go dig. Hey and it. Heats Back on, apologize for the noise I Got the two bottom screws out of this Bowl's get one more.
I Tried getting that top bracket off I Think they're lock tighted in place. They're going to strip out right above my finger there that? that's not happening I Got to say it sure made it easy to work on. Like sometimes that one was loose sometimes. Um, it could be a nightmare.

Get carbs off. Try doing a goal wing. All right, ready. let's see what we got.

Yeah, that is pretty cruddy. Let's see if we get that. I Got to tell you though, although that all the powder it doesn't look really. there's not much damage to it though.

you know, usually get that powder. it's just all crap that's in there. Look at that, huh? Yeah, and that's some. Rust though I Wonder if the inside of the tank is just totally gone? We'll look into that.

actually. kind of thinking possibly we can just clean the Jets out of it right where it is. It doesn't look all corroded. Let's um, we're going to get the um drain hose off of it.

We'll get that balll set to the side. We get the other one open. See what that one looks like too? Yeah. See if does our float move? Yeah? Is the needle going with? it? looks to be we just got Jets there.

we should be able to access with the screwdriver going up. Huh? Bottom screws putting up a fight I have the correct screwdriver to strip out going of. Give her a couple of whack when we're trying to turn it. the hardest one to get to too down in there that you get excited too fast.

Yeah, that one Focus that one right down in there being an issue. H I'm going to try get getting that top one loose this one and it's on a bracket so we can wiggle that bracket and see if it'll help loosen the bottom one up. You know what I mean. Possibly you can get the other part is.

see I can't get a straight shot on it. Let's um, get a little screwdriver or something in there. see if can twist that bracket backwards and if that's the case with a loen, the nope one if the screws actually corroded into the case because let's try regular. Phillips I'm going to work on that.

Did it just turn kind of turn with it Murphy's FL right? All right I'm going to pick away at that. see if we can get it I got to turn like half a turn I hammered on the back. kind of like seated the screw again with the hitting a hammer on the screwdriver. There we go.

Well in the bet. this one looks the same. there's the other one You got it. Oh yeah, why would this one be any different, right? again? I'm amazed at what condition the uh, you know, usually that's all pitted and corroded and everything.

Now we will definitely not be putting that screw back in that lower location. All right, let's go get all the Jets I'm going to lay them out on a um towel down below and we'll kind of like blow out all the parts and everything, see if we'll put it back together and then what do we have to just get this one off right? here? That's the only fuel line in right? Maybe we could feed it from a Jerry can or something and see if it'll fire off of the carbs. actually look I'm amazed how that much corrosion I mean that's like cinnamon powder that's in there? I've never seen it like just so no. fine.
Usually it's all locked up and again, maybe we'll take a look later. Maybe the inside of the tank just the metal of it's crappy and it just kind of went away. I pulled out what? I can. quick little rinse and then we'll get personal with it and I want to see it I'd like to see it shoot out these sides right here Looks good if that went up in it.

try not to get you like I did before and this is the feed going in. Probably dump out both of them. That's good. My concern is should that one be a to push through, wonder if we crack the throttle? I'm going to turn that throttle up.

That's the uh, my guess is that's where the slide pin is going through I think you just want to go for it or what? I still have to rinse out all the um, the parts down below. Let's see what they look like so all the little holes in it. this is what goes over it and then there's a jet on the bottom of that meters how much fuel comes up. They actually look pretty good and this one I believe is going to be our idle circuit that's got some crap on it and the needle seat don't look bad, see some I just wonder if it just had so much dirt in the bottom that that's clear I just wonder if there was so much of that where you know that sat into that was just buried in there and it just couldn't draw up any um.

fuel on both of them. He's sing harder and harder to start I want That was kind of building up over time. so all right I'm going to go rinse all this stuff out. we'll put them all back together I got them back together I Screwed up a little bit.

I Was thinking that this passage right here which is the idle ones that one and that one went into here. so this might be A blind passage. that's why it was kicking back at us. but I went and I rinsed them out and blew them out too, so it's looking pretty good.

Float bols are nice and clean so we just go button all that stuff up and get some gas. Going to it all right, we got them buttoned up. Let's go turn the fuel on. I Got a gas can? Uh, clamp to the handlebars and hopefully they stop.

They fill up and stop. Don't start pissing out and let's go crack them both open. These are the call them bleeders. Fuel's going through that one.

That's one. when you get water or something in a carburetor, you crack these loose and you can piss out anything that's in them. Both of them look good. The hoses are off that these hoses run down below and we just drain under the bike.
Let's let that set up for a minute. I'm going to go bolt this back on this for the coils in case the coils need to be grounded. I'll bolt that back on there and uh, we'll turn the power back on. See what we get? All right, Chok's on! I Never de charg the battery pack up actually I think it's still on.

We turn our key on, shall we? Oh oh, who it's Full Throttle That might be an issue. Let's get rid of the choke or half of it anyway. All of it. Where's the hole? Let's go with choke again.

Ready. All right. Just sounds pretty good. Actually, that smoke is going to be the oil that I put out.

Let's go see if the dashes anything weird. No want to function? Check some stuff like directionals and everything. What we got professionals. other side: I Doing quite well.

We'll let it run a second. We'll start knocking the choke down. Good headlight. We can't tell cuz it's not there.

Start backing that choke off. Let's sit there for a minute. It's pretty quiet. A little tick in on that one.

Let's go throw that cap back in there pumping air out. I don't if that's an would cause an issue or not dripping a little a little bit of something. on the other side. we're leaking a little bit of oil.

Maybe right? Is that oil or gas coming down? That might be just gas from when I when I cracked the uh bleeder open? Yeah. I Think that's just going to run down from carbs? Go look at the carbs. Sounds awesome. Uh oh.

just make sure we don't have a carb issue that's going on. Yeah, this one's dripping. Let's see if I can. Um yeah.

bottom screw I think it's just a Flo pull it out that's leaking though. Me: grab a light, a screwdriver, let see if we can get on that bottom screw there. It's pretty tight. That's not the issue, that's tight.

We may have to take the um, that bowl back off and uh, fluff that seal the bowl seal. This is the screw that screwed up I Put it in the highest spot. Let's go see if it'll fire back up. Give her a little bit of throttle gra a little.

I wonder who caused that? You put all that oil in there that caused that? Think to it pushed it into the pipe. So now the pipe's heat up. it's going to get worse. I'm going to go turn the fan on and open the door.

For some odd reason we run about 10 minutes but it's going to take some R some yeah, get rid of about a qut transmission fluid. Least the muffler won't rust inside huh? may end up doing is pushing it outside when we will let it run and burn off. I Still have that that fuel leak so maybe we'll shut it down and then I'll I'll deal with that. Do we stop? No still dripping.

Oh I see the uh, the electronics screwing up the camera huh? The light or the I you the light? Yeah. I got to get that car back off of there the flow. P Let's go shut it down. There you go and let the fan do its thing.
I'm going to shut the fuel off I'm going to get that that bowl off of there probably may be able to actually. I Don't think it's um, sometimes you take the you can take the seal and flip it over all I need two hands. So it was leaking right here and it's definitely you know, flush with the case. Sometimes the case gets warped too see if you can pop that out of.

Sometimes you just pop it out and you can like fluff it. You know what I mean like take your fingernail and just kind of ah, it's got a break in it. There's your problem. That's probably where our leak is in.

right where that is what can we put in there to help it. Little bit of the little bit of the right stuff you think, who's yelling, get a new gasket? Yeah, that's not going to help us right now. that's 5 days away. you know? let's try a little bit of I'll dry that up I'm going to go home for this evening anyway.

What we'll do is we'll put a little bit of right stuff on it right where the brake is and um, we'll see if that kind of seals itself up over the night. let it kind of harden up right. Stuff is kind of like a rubbery I Don't think it's going to hold up to fuel before it cures so if we let it sit overnight. yeah it physically has a break space in it right there that cause it to leak.

it will rub down like the whole thing. Let me go get it. The other thing they do too is like when you take an O-ring you can take apart and glue it. This any good? There we go Good Yeah you take a like an O-ring you got to make an O-ring the correct size, push it down in there.

Um as they do is they they just take a let's um I was going to take it out and put it behind it, but I'm going to put a thin coat all the way around. I'm I'm going to not do it up there really shouldn't see fuel up there anyway. let's go just put a skim coat on it. Gu said I'm going to let this cure up overnight before we put it back on what you got.

so I'm going to pick away at that. What do you want to do tomorrow Which is going to be 2 minutes for you which you're probably you get it up in the air. We'll run it through the gears, listen to the transmission. I Highly doubt that he beat on this thing, you know, but definely want to check it good.

We'll let that set. where's the break? Let's go give her a little just a hair more in case it shrinks back a little. you know. All right there.

All right. it's the next day. It's tacked up pretty good. Feels like the the rubber that's underneath it.

Let's go throw that back on there and hopefully she no longer pees. Let's go crack the fuel her, fill up. Hope she no longer. Tinkles Do you want to? Um, well, we still got out of park.

The next thing is we're going to start. You know, putting all the stuff back on it for the engine. Do you want to? uh, maybe do a compression test again again? See what the numbers actually are? Hey, maybe we'll go try that. Let it.
um, get one last shot. I'm hoping you know should be around 150 a piece that 300 was. It's a diesel there. a false reading cuz of oil.

All right. I'll get those plugs out of there and we'll just kind of keep an eye on that. make sure it doesn't leak anymore. All right, plugs are out of it.

It's Full Throttle Let's see what it does now. Looks like 160. That's a good number. More important, if it matches the other side though, let's go set up on that one and the other one little less 150.

That's okay, that's acceptable 10 lb difference between the two of them. sometimes. like if you get yeah, if you get something that's at like 120 and 90, it's going to have a hard time at an idle trying to not skip a beat on the other cylinder. All right, I think I may take some time and I'm going to just start buttoning stuff back up I Don't think there's anything else.

Um, actually, we probably should do. Let's get it up in the air in the middle of it. We'll fire it up and we'll run the transmission run through the gears. Make sure that's good.

Then we can button it up. Well like I say if there's ever a chain that was screaming for oil, it's that one. Let's go. When we fire it up, it kind of can work itself around.

this is motor oil. I think make a mess. All right, let that kind of do that. Let's fire it up.

All right. Let's give her we need to get rid of the throttle. might be an issue and we need choke Co start again. watch y' second third, fourth, fine.

Uh, on the Fly doesn't look bound up at all. There's no, there's no, uh, clumps going by. Good. that should be first gear try.

um, turning some of the choke off. now. idle. Force Get rid of it.

There's an idle speed adjustment right here. Turn up a hair. maybe not. It's frozen good.

see how our carbs doing Looks pretty dry. The only it's rattling is the uh. the lift. yeaw.

think that pretty decent for what it is. Pretty decent machine. Let's um I know I Want to purge the gas tank? Let me go shut it off. I Want to purge the gas tank? Let's see what we got.

See if that's where the rust came from I Think before I Do that. I'm going to throw I'm going to throw a bunch of stuff back together on this, possibly even wheel it outside. I'll let it run and let you know the uh, oil that's in the exhaust system kind of burn its way out. It's like it's running when it's not.

smoke them if you got them. Yeah, let's go see what's in that. hopefully it opens. H My guess that's where all the rust came from.

You know there's another set of keys on here, but they look like they're for like a pad lock or something. which may have been like the bike might have been locked up to a fence. Break it I Shooting some lube in there, see if that'll help us? Yeah. I See it has screws going on the outside of it I Don't know if they're real or fake I'm want to try thinking them out again I Know I Don't know if they're real or not.
Sometimes it's just kind of like a faux thing. Let's try it. Hopefully there's not nuts on the other side of it like you'd have the cap open and they got started. Never know it's to put an all rench on it.

Let's go find out. I Guess the first one will tell the story. It's going up and out good. Yeah, let's go do that.

We'll take all those out and uh, we'll see if we get the whole assembly out of there. Screwed? Yeah, I Think they have nuts on the other side of them and they're just spinning. Think we got lucky in that first one. Yeah, sometimes it's like the, um, the wheels on my truck.

It's got like little center caps. Every other one is real. so four of them are and four of them are. maybe? yeah.

Like I said, you going to come out of there I have a feeling that the gas cap may have to be open for it to come out of this closer. I'm going to screw it a little bit. I'm going to. uh.

I'm going to put heat on it. Yeah, just kidding. Think we might have just got it with the key? Yes, we did. Oh yeah, she's cruddy.

Oh yeah, that's where that's where our rust came from. That tank is hideous. You guys can even see. Let's go grab a light and I'll get you closer.

So have you ever wondering what all that rust came from it? like? looking in a Cess pool wondering why I know what a Cess pool looks like? Holy huh, let's go dump that out. You dump that out. It's like chocolate milk. I Don't know if that's gas.

It doesn't even smell like remotely like fuel. Kind of pours like water too. Well I think we get the idea now. the big chunks are coming out of it.

Yeah, yeah, well, we know where the rust came from in the carburetor. I've never seen Fuel and like, what else is it? There's like pine needles floating around in it. like what is that? Yeah, it's like pine needles I Don't know. It's like pieces of the tank.

I Don't know. Not quite sure what the deal is with that, but that is hideous. Look at that. I'm amaz.

it didn't rot out like blow out the bottom bottom side of the tank and that's what we could see of it. Yeah, so that's that's the demise of this bike. Is it's going to need a fuel tank? I Kind of doubt. what? Get that cleaned out well enough to be operating again and that again.

Like it. It kind of like acts like water. It doesn't act like fuel, even like the way it sticks to the side. Yeah, that would make that tank right out, huh? Don't know.

It's got some stories to tell though, huh? Well I was going to, uh, try to take it out and putt it up and down. We don't have a tank and outside is a mess. We got 17 in of snow day before yesterday. We got 3 in of rain last night so you can imagine it's like watery ice outside.

I Was kind of hoping that, um, we're going to take the cylinder heads off. That's where we thought we were going with it and we're going to go. kind of see what damage happened to the inside of the engine, but uh, no. Well it would have made for a better video if it if it did, but that's okay.
we uh I have a title for this I don't know if I ever like I get we need another gas tank just in general I I don't we even try to save that? and um yeah, what's this bike worth? up and running? $500 Again, it's not a uh Japanese little bit more desired bike or you know, Americanmade, but it's cool I think it's probably like a Honda clone or something I don't know. One of you guys may will tell me what you think this engine setup is or is it their own, but it's a pretty good fairly com pack you now. so we're talking our sprockets right here so that's our whole package right? There is probably 20 in across, 20 in tall and I don't know about 14 in wide so possibly we can go use that for something. That was my first thought when I uh I saw it, you know? but let me know what your thoughts are.

Let me know what your thoughts are with happen with that tank too I wonder if it's just been out in the weather the way this well is like this I wonder if it wasn't sealing and it had. It was low on fuel and water kept filling up in here cuz again it sat Outdoors For 9 years it came in here filled up this well and just kind of went into the tank. now that I'm looking at it I bet you that's more of what happened. It just made it past the seal or it got frozen.

got past the seal. there's that the little paws that have to come in for it to pop open. a little chalky. Oh well.

I Had fun with it. Thank you John for hooking us up with it and allowing us to do a little bit of wrenching with it. All right guys with that I'm going to go sign off I Got some other stuff to take care of for winter time machines, but uh, that's about it for this one. Till then I'll see you later up in my stash I Did buy this tank for another purpose.

that didn't happen. Looks kind of small though. H.

Because it sent its entire life sitting outside the tank filled up with water from the bad design of the filler. They probably made the filler recessed like that so any small dribbles when you filled it would stay and evaporate instead of running down the tank. Unfortunately when the seal failed it allowed the well when filled with water drain into the tank. I bet that's why it started running poorly and then quit running when the water clogged the carbs.

Given how it runs well, I'd try to clean the tank and seal it and run it. Cycle Trader has these for about $2500.

I think someone pulled a fast one on the previous owner. maybe kids added some water "fuel" to the bike. Way too much water for accidental filling, or even a water leak. Good video. An better Engine for the scale buggy build??

Yeah, I'd say failed tank seal.
